Frequently asked questions
Do you work directly with interior designers?
Yes. The majority of projects are developed in close collaboration with interior designers and private clients. Clear dialogue and alignment with the broader design intent are central to the process.
What types of projects do you take on?
The studio focuses primarily on high-end residential work, including custom tables, seating, casework, and built pieces. Projects range from individual commissions to cohesive suites of furniture.
At what stage should designers get in touch?
Early involvement is ideal, particularly when custom furniture is integral to the layout or architectural intent. That said, the studio can also step in once dimensions and requirements are defined.
Can designs be adjusted during the process?
Yes. Design development is collaborative, and refinements are expected early in the process. Once fabrication begins, changes are evaluated carefully to maintain quality, schedule, and structural integrity.
Do you provide drawings or specifications?
Yes. Design intent is communicated through sketches, drawings, and material samples as appropriate to each project and designer’s workflow.
Where is the work fabricated?
All furniture is designed and fabricated in the Black Creek Designs studio in Connecticut, allowing for direct oversight and consistency throughout the build.
Do you offer studio visits?
Yes. Interior designers and private clients are welcome to visit the studio and workshop to review materials, see work in progress, and discuss upcoming projects.
What is the typical lead time?
Lead times vary depending on scope and complexity. Timelines are discussed early in the process and confirmed before fabrication begins.
Do you work outside Connecticut?
Yes. The studio works with designers and clients nationally, with delivery and installation coordinated as needed.
